Sander and Juliet (your hosts at African Rock Lodge) found this little paradise and immediately fell in love with it. You will understand why, when you have been here.

Sander is born in Belgium and grew up in Luxemburg. At the age of 19 he realized he was in need of trying out something different and decided to take a look at South Africa. He loved the bush from day 1 and started a training to become field guide (game ranger). He enjoyed it a lot and soon understood that he made the right decision to come to Africa. He picked up experience as a guide for several years and then moved into more managerial roles in the lodge industry, which brought him to different lodges in Mozambique and South Africa. When he arrived in Hoedspruit he found Juliet and together they took African Rock Lodge under their arms.

Juliet is born in the area, a rural village between Acornhoek and Manyeleti to be more exact. She has been working in restaurants in Hoedspruit for a couple of years before she stole Sander’s heart.
